4 stars because MOST survied the shipping. The fish that are alive are wonderful. However, we did loose around 100 or so of the 500 fish we ordered, due to the heat and lack of oxygen. I really wish the fish had been packed with enough ice packs to keep them cold enough to not use up all the oxygen and to have more of them alive when they arrived. Delivery was very fast, overnight next-day air. Unfortunately, when I opened the box, I immediately knew the fish were in trouble. The ice packs were warm and there were so many dead. So, I put the bag to float in the pond and searched my home for an aerator unit. Went back out and opened the bag enough to put the aerator in the bottom. So many dead fish. The water in the bag was HOT, not warm, not cool, and definitely not cold. Realizing I had to cool them off or loose them all, I slowly added cool pond water every 5-7 mins. Goldfish die if their water is too warm, btw. I transferred the fish, after they acclimated and seemed a bit less lethargic, to a temporary holding cage in order to monitor their progress, and watch for anymore that die, or show signs of stress. We did loose a few more that are NOT pictured. Overall, I am happy with the fish. I just wish they had been packed for their HOT destination of New Mexico, from Missouri, with more icepacks to keep them cool and alive. So, if/when I need to order goldfish again, I will contact the company directly and ask for extra ice packs. … I should probably also contact them and ask about the 100+ that died as a result of not enough icepacks, soon. Maybe you can get a better count from the pictures…?
Goldfish. 100/500 dead on arrival. 4 stars for 400 living fish.

UPDATE: We went ahead and ordered the next bigger size, and ordered a few more this time to account for some dying off again. Well, to our surprise all were alive on arrival and several weeks later not a single one has died..we now have several extra! Very healthy fish. We are happy!
Original: We ordered 10 fish but received 18 and all were alive! A great surprise! However, very quickly they died off and we have now been left with 3 for the last 1-2 weeks. The remaining 3 are growing well and seem very healthy. Overall it was a good experience, but is still a bit disappointing because we are not left with enough to do the job for our stock tank (our purpose for buying). Now I’m a bit stuck debating if we just deal with having 3 that can’t keep up with the job or risk spending the money again to have the same thing happen.

My fish arrived alive and appeared healthy. However you charged my son’s checking account twice for the one order. My son payed for my order. And in doing so you overdrew his checking account! Please check your records and reimburse his account. Thank you Janet Hardenburgh r

I ordered 10 pond gold/feeder fish to be used in my stock tank fish pond and got 14 instead. Four extra I believe to allow for any that may have died in transit. None died and after four days all fourteen are still alive and doing great. They already come to the surface to greet me at feeding time. It is not a fancy setup but it works fine. A home made five gallon bucket filter I made with outdoor carpet and micro fiber towels keeps the water clear. I love watching the fish and relaxing by the 100 plus gallon little pond/stocktank. Toledo is a great company to get the fish from. I am well pleased with them

I ordered these fish last year and was super happy, didn’t lose a single fish to anything other than natural predators. This year, same fish, same order, big price increase – lost 10 fish in less than 3 weeks. My fish from last year are healthy and growing like crazy, so I can’t believe its the environment that killed the new fish, and it’s definitely the new fish that died. I’m seriously disappointed. I tried contacting the company through their website directly but didn’t receive a response, which means I’ll have to think long and hard before I order from these folks again. Too bad!
