acclimating fish by punching hole in the plastic bag after buying new fish?

You want to avoid getting the pet shop water in your tank. There’s more than one way method to acclimate. I usually float the bag a few minutes, then clip it to the tank rim and add a little of my tank water to the bag, wait a few minutes, then add more tank water…repeat until I get bored with it then net the fish out into the tank.

Always try to isolate water sources. Their tank might not be as healthy as your tank.

Dont poke holes, acclimation is mostly just temperature poking hole can cause the temperature to change to fast and stress the fish or put them in shock

I meant after the temp acclimation, poke holes so they can acclimate to ph, hardness….etc
