There is nothing better than hot crispy seafood! Am I right? One of the most popular recipes on my blog is this Southern fried shrimp and it was the inspiration for this recipe. I wanted to share a delicious fried fish that was inexpensive but also delicious.

How to Make

  1. Season the tilapia generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Season the flour with old bay seasoning, lemon zest, and granulated garlic.
  2. Dip the tilapia in the whisked eggs and then coat on both sides with the seasoned flour. Shaking off any excess flour.
  3. Fry the fish in vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  4. Allow the fish to cool a bit before serving.

Top Tips

  • Make sure the oil is at 350 degrees F.
  • Coat the fish 2-3 times in the seasoned flour. You should not be able to see the fish underneath the flour.
  • Serve with lots of fresh lemon juice, hot sauce, and tartar sauce!
  • Want to make it spicy? Add some cayenne pepper.

What Goes Good With Fried Seafood?

When I think of seafood, I normally think of the beach. So any summer side dishes would go great with this. For example, Hawaiian macaroni salad and

creamy sriracha coleslaw are excellent choices. Potato and egg salad is another fantastic side dish!

I highly recommend enjoying this immediately. Fried fish gets soggy after a while so make sure to fry the fish when you plan on serving it.
